On your employee list screen, click on the + NEW icon. This action will take you to the “Create Employee” page.
On the left of this screen, you will see a progression pane throughout this profile setup.
Step 1 - Employee Details
In this section, you can fill out your employee’s information and upload employee’s profile picture.
- Payroll ID – If you have a separate accounts department, you will need the identification that they have created for Miri.
- Type of employment – The drop-down menu gives you three (3) employment options.
- Gender – There are options for your staff who identify as non-binary or other.
- Date of birth – Once entered, the age will be automatically calculated.
- Email – If your new employee has their own company email, then this is where to enter it, you also have the option to add a private email address.
Please note that the email address assigned is the default email for any work-related communication within the system.

Step 2 - Profile Details
Here you can fill out your employee’s other details.
- Skills – You can leave this blank or choose from the drop-down menu, selected skills will be listed here.
- Interest tab – Like the skills section, you can leave it blank or select up five interests from the drop-down menu, selected interests will be displayed here.
- Position Summary – You will have predetermined what the roles encompass in your business when you fill out the employee positions through the admin tab.
- Roster info – Employees’ availability
Step 3 - Employment Details
- Employment Branch – You would have nominated in your administration if you have one (1) or multiple branches. Choose the selected branch.
- Last Roster Date – This will automatically be filled in with the date of the last scheduled shift in the system.
- Job Type – Drop down menu with options.
- Position type – Drop down menu with options.
- Manager - Drop down menu with options.
- On Hold – Dependent on whether all paperwork has been sighted, you can place the employee on hold until all paperwork has been received.
- Employment Type – Here you can stipulate the type of employment.
- Qualifications - This will be blanked out until you finish creating the employee. Lama care reflects this in a small note below.

Step 4 - Availability
Here you can nominate what hours and days your employee is available to work, making it easier to match up shifts to your customers.
This section can be adjusted at any time to suit your employee’s availability.
Step 5 - Contact Details
Other general information about your employee, including emergency contact details.
Step 6 - Employee Documents
Here you can upload your employee’s necessary documents, covering both requirements and compliance. This includes documents such as NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) worker screening, certification of competency, employee’s resume, and contracts.
Add a document by clicking on the purple + icon on the right.
Once you have completed and saved your employee, you will see tick marks on the progression pane to indicate that you have completed the entry.
Payrate Category – Employee’s Shift Rate – Important
Now you will need to go back to the employment details section (step 4) of the employee and add their payrate. You will note that the employment type appoints the payrate category. The SCHADS award is preloaded into Lama Care, and you decide the classification.
Example Below: we have nominated a casual employee who is a level 1 pay point. This employee is working towards certification and is entry level. Once you enter the pay point level, your screen will refresh and the nominated award and pay rate will appear. This covers each classification, including the hourly rate and other shift payments on different days.
